Duck: An Explanation

Hi. We are the filmmakers of the documentary detailing Duck Beach.

Every year, almost 1,000 single Mormons head to the Outer Banks of NC for a weekend of hanging out with friends. Because we are fascinated not only by Mormonism, but also by being faithful in Modern America, we wanted to tell the story.

We understand that some people may be hesitant to have a film crew at Duck. We understand some people will not want to be a part of telling the story. That is fine. We will not have anyone in the final film who has not given written consent to appear. Additionally, it is not our goal to create a reality series, or turn this into Big Brother. We want to tell an honest and compelling story. We'll follow four people we love and admire. Hopefully their experience will, in part, help tell the Single Mormon experience. We urge you to contact us if you have any concerns. Please write to stephen at bigironproductions dot com.

We would love for everyone to feel comfortable telling their story. This film is gaining some national attention. We've recently been contacted by ABC news 20/20, and we've had articles run in the Daily Beast (Newsweek's website), as well as in in papers across the country. We've done a few interviews to let people know exactly what we see for the final product of this film. Please feel free to peruse. I think you'll see that this story is going to be told. We would love for you to be a part of that telling.

A Motley Vision

The Daily Beast.

Additionally, please watch our previous work that had to do with Mormon Singles. This is what sparked our interest in the subject. I think you'll see that our aim is to tell a very honest, sympathetic, and compelling story.

Again, please contact us with any concerns.
